Response To Normandy Poem

My Response To Normandy Poem by Gary Dop. Ships and boats are near Normandy shore, Searching for an enemy that they do abhor; While all the waves would continue to break, Did proceed to say prayers for God's sake. God gave much energy for us to be brave, Even though some will end up in a grave, And down on us all warm sun had to burn; Near shore waited so we can take our turn. Onto the shore we had sloshed and sloshed; All over our boots some shining sand washed; As they turned in spires and others in circles, That endeavored to keep alive all the miracles. Shore again revisited while we wondered why, So many were wounded or they will have to die; Then all our curiosity constantly grew and grew And true numbers and statistics only God knew. My wife and I were there once a few years ago. An incredible place. Beaches were not as big as I thought they would be. The graveyard was also astounding.
