Respect Is Tough

Respect Is Tough

So many times, the outcome of an event can be terrifying.
Like when the person whom you hoped would lose,
Ends up pulling away in what was a close race.
After such an ugly operation,
It's hard to accept the truth,
No matter how much it hurts you.

The truth is that he won the race,
And although plenty of us are full of rage,
We can't allow it to change how we behave.
It's not okay to let frustration get the best of us,
We have a new president in charge of us.
Whether you like or it not is your choice,
And you are entitled to make your own choice.

We may not see eye to eye and that's fine;
But I will not criticize,
Unlike those who live to criticize.
I will respect the choice you make,
After all, giving and showing respect is tough.

We may not like the results and that's okay,
But we still must respect the choice
That we as a people made.
A lot of us wanted to see history remade.
Like Obama made.
Now so many of us feel let down,
Like someone shot all our dreams down.

Don't stay in a place of anger and pain,
Even if you don't like the choice that was made.
That was then and this is now,
Make a choice of how you want to make a difference now.

We may not see eye to eye and that's fine;
But I will not criticize, unlike those who live to criticize.
I will respect the choice you make,
After all, giving and showing respect is tough.
