Requiem For a Candle

You're desolate & hollow now
emptied out & broken down,
where once you held the promise
of much brighter days
you've fallen victim to the heat
of your fatal destiny
your heart is burnt away
& displayed in frozen drops
your purpose fulfilled
& though you'll never know another day of light,
your scent remains
