Remembering When

I remember when The streets were safe to walk, shops were opened till late. And with guard dogs in the yard, No one dared to jump the gate. I remember when Rape, hijacking and crime all ceased to exist and if anyone messed with your family, their name was on a death list. I remember when Respect was always shown and given to anyone we whom we met. And it was okay with our parents to get a beating from any adult who we disrespect. I remember when we use to take pride in our school work, just to get many gold stars. Makin sure our projects n assignments were the best by far. I remember when We use to get up early on Saturdays, just to catch our fav cartoons. Sunday morning trips to the beach And staying till late in the afternoon. I remember when We use to climb on the mango trees and made swings out of old tyres Played hide n seek in the garden and with toys made out of wires. I remember when We use to run around barefoot Not worried about cuts n bruises. And we had fun in all our games no matter who was winning or losing. I remember when Our teachers would call home on the days of school we would miss. And all our bad days we made better by our parents hugs and kisses. CONTEST: REMEMBERING WHEN.. This was wonderful Sasha. And I agree with you on most aspects (especially the part about kids not showing respect and going unpunished for BEING disrespectful). Though I don't believe you meant that crime didn't exist back then... but being you were a little kid, crime obviously wasn't on your mind. One song I like about "the good ole days" is Back When by Tim McGraw... I think you might like it :)
