Remembering

Christmas arrives, coldly each year
With memories of love lost
And the shedding of tears

Slowly though, greetings and words
spoken kindly
By family and friends
Put the sadness behind me

The warmth and the love,
The feelings of caring
The traditions, the season
The cheer that we're sharing

My thoughts and emotions
Are lifted and brightened,
My smile is returned,
And my spirit is lightened

These gifts that are given
Without strings, at no cost
Touch the heart, warm the soul
When remembering love lost
