Relapse

Inner walls collapse in rage
Burning passion erupts today
Forever lost with no escape
I see a plan take its shape

Painful relapse shows on me
A path I never hoped could be
Hiding wounds I have dealt
Hiding smiles that it felt

My younger self looks up to me
And quickly turns so tearfully
“You said you learned a different way
To keep your pain at bay.”

As he runs, I can’t give chase
As the dark obscures my face
I turn and hold my only friend
And he leads me to my end

Don’t fade to black
Your memories before you are twisted
But I lied to my God
And for the sinner comes atonement

And could I forget
This black night ever existed?
The reminders I made
Cannot ever say goodbye.
