Rejection

( REJECTION )

If only I had been alert,
then it would not have hurt.
But I had felt so sure,
and let it lure.

Me into false hope,
so now I have to cope.
With the rejection,
if I had listened to the projection.

Then it would not have stung,
or felt like the shot of a gun.
Straight through my heart,
forcing my dreams and realities apart.
