Reindeer Blues

The sleigh was all packed and ready.
Filled with the bags of toys.
And Santa laughed as we lifted off,
His ho ho ho's a joyful noise.
We all flew behind Rudolph.
His nose once again our light.
And we began our yearly trip
That fateful Christmas night.

The wind rushed all around us.
We struggled with our load.
And I noticed it had been awhile
Since Santa ho ho hoed.
The clouds were growing thicker
And things were looking grim.
When suddenly I heard Vixen gasp
And Rudolph's nose went dim.

There was a crackle, then a spark
That lit the entire sky.
Then everything went dark
And I knew we were going to die.
Dancer yelled, Donner cried!
I heard old Santa scream!
And as gravity pulled us down
I prayed it was just a dream...

Insurance will cover the damage.
In time the bones will heal.
Santa bought a brand new sleigh.
(He got a very good deal.)
And we learned our lesson
Tho' we jump now at every sneeze.
Always take an emergency kit
With spare bulbs and batteries.

‘Twas a dark and stormy night
But we had no reason to fear.
For we had Rudolph to light our way
And good old Santa to steer.
We never gave it a single thought
That we'd weather the blust'ry snows.
How were we ever to know
That Rudolph would blow his nose?
