Reflections
Under a tree on a blanket
with a well-thumbed book propped open
basking in the sun's contentment
chestnut hair pulled back in a braid.
Wearing shorts and a blue t-shirt
with flip-flops kicked off in the grass
calloused feet brush air unconcerned
birds calling in trees overhead.
Always outdoors in the garden
carefully growing tomatoes
the compost will not spread itself
the mint will need cutting for tea.
Barefoot on grass and through the woods
hiking through verdant green forests
gulping glasses of cold mint tea
writing stories about summer.
