Reflection On Life

How sad a state if, crammed with noise
the clamour of this world destroys
that still small voice of calm within
whose fainting trace grows ever thin.

Or if, all worldly goods we clasp
but at life's end our final gasp
breathes whispers of profound regret
at good intentions never met.

So let us live with joyful heart
redeeming time before we part
with pause for thought and fruitful deeds
remembering each other's needs.
