REFLECTION ON A REFLECTION
In the mirror - standing before me
Is everything that I need to be...
An image of human certainty.
Certainly - upon my inspection...
Far away, I am from perfection
Which is portrayed in my reflection.
This, many times before I have seen
Whether or not the mirror is clean...
But I am sure you know what I mean.
I take onboard these thoughts of token...
Mirror image is not outspoken
Quite as much if its face is broken.
Awoken - the position of smear
Can change an entire atmosphere
And make a perception disappear.
Reception is null inside stained glass.
The other side of much greener grass
When a clear reflection comes to pass.
Observance has taken centre stage
As I grow older - become of age...
Self-preservation which I engage.
Wage - I must of my image, maintain...
For I cannot acquire or gain
Any more time going down the drain.
Results of scars - the marks that were made.
Now on my person, they are displayed...
Physical prices which I have paid.
Aside from the mirror, these I try...
Looking into both a diamond's eye
And my cast on water flowing by.
Why - should I worry or show concern?
I cannot heal, remove or unlearn
Any real or proverbial burn...
Which brings me back to where I began.
The mirror says to me - yes, you can.
Fairest of all, I am not less than.
