Notes About The Poem

The syllable counter and I disagree on the words “fire” and “hour.” I believe them each to contain 2 syllables but the syllable counter says one. I believe this Haiku follows the “5-7-5” pattern as required.

Red-Splattered Existence

exploding, burning, searing —

I Never liked that fire and hour were considered one syllable but I have to teach that way in my ESL classes! I enjoyed your haiku, Cindi.
