Redeeming My I O U
REDEEMING MY I.O.U.
by
JOHN
While in my youth I was faced with a dire need
An issue that threatened my path to succeed
My options were fading then I met an elderly pair
Informed of my quandary they elected to share
They were not wealthy in a material sense
Willing to offer assistance without recompense
I accepted their offer and went on my way
With a solemn oath to someday repay
Years passed before I could honor my word
Their heavenly journey had already occurred
Guilt haunted me due to my procrastination
I needed to satisfy my moral obligation
I met a young man claiming dire duress
Fiscal problems prevented his path to success
What someone did for me I now will do for you
You are my last chance to redeem my I.O.U.
I expect no recompense but leave an onus on you
Someday you will need to honor your I.O.U.
