Red, White, and Blue

Red...White...and Blue...
a symbol representing me and you.
So raise your flag up high...
as the soldiers go marching by.
Why go to war?
When you can be shot by the man next door.
It must be hard for the flag to fly...
under the weight piled on so high...
as love has turned into hate...
giving has turned into greed...
the corrupt seem to succeed...
that's not how it was ment to be.
It says " In God we trust."
I think that should be a must.
The flag is made of cloth...
it doesn't think or feel.
We are the ones who stand behind...
our standards we reveal.
This country once was great...
I'm not sure now how we rate.
Together we are strong...
we know right from wrong.
So what do you say...we jump in today...
and fix things before it's too late.

Great job Pam! Love your voice in this poem...encouraging us to come back to our roots. Favorite line is, "must be hard for the flag to fly..." Powerful line about why go to war when you can shoot the man next door!!! Kick in the teeth kind of truth on that line!
