Red Bird

Yesterday, as if by chance
I saw a red bird sitting on a branch
He didn't move or make a sound
He just sat there looking down

I waited just to see him fly
And found myself about to cry
To see him look so sad and still
I wondered if he'd lost his will

As he began to take flight
I blew three kisses at the sight
I wished for happiness and to be free
I prayed to be healthy, Blessed be.

I love this one. There is a great children's book called Chasing Redbird, by Sharon Creech. I recommend you read it. ~Gar
