Re-Co-Very

Re-co-very
A slow and sweetened word
It rings with resonance
A beauty to be heard.

Looking back on tears shed
the pain is muted, silenced
just a quiet hum I hear
This time it is no pretence.

Sometimes I feel a sting
The prick of old pain
niggles in my sides
A drop of dirty rain.

Mentally I push it away
float it down the river
burn it at the seams
on a breeze that shivers.

‘This is it’
I tell myself
but the voice whispers
‘Until next time’.
