Rear Vision Mirror

Looking in the mirror, I see the road is clear
Not a car in sight, as far as I can see
Super for a warning, when at last they do get near
Then I am as careful as can be

Life is very similar, there is no angst in sight
The problem is the things that you don't know
How they sabotage your future, just when things look bright
If we'd seen them coming, could we ease the blow?

We know we can do nothing, to the past things we have done
What's done is done, of that we can be sure
But with the help of hindsight, can we make our future one
Where we don't have so many hardships to endure

Looking in the mirror, you can see the road is clear
But it is out front in the future that you need
To listen for the problem, that you will surely hear
The sort of thing, to bigger troubles lead

So when your life is ending, and you can go on no more
Look in that mirror, see where you went wrong
Help the younger generation, they have goodness in their core
To avoid those things, that in the past belong
