DEDICATED TO A TRUE GEM , MY AMAZING FRIEND CHRIS WHO HAS GOT ME THROUGH THE TOUGHEST TIMES OF MY LIFE ESPECIALLY WHEN MY HUSBAND HAD CANCER AND I HAD LITTLE SUPPORT FROM MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY, AND TO AN AWESOME POETESS WHO HAS HELPED AND ENCOURAGED ME WITH MY POETRY AND BECOME TREASURED SOUPER FRIEND

Real Friends Not Acquaintances

A real friend is a diamond; you know they’ll go that extra mile
in all aspects of your life they will support you all the while
Their honesty is appreciated, their opinions you won’t dismiss,
especially when you ask them does my tush look huge in this!
They are never quick to judge you and will listen to your fears,
at sad times they’ll hold you tight and mop your torrent of tears
True friends are rare gems to be cherished, on them you can depend,
you know in your heart they’ll be with you, right to the very end


A poetry princess has nurtured me
On her guidance I can always depend
She gives sound advice on my poetry
I’m honoured that she’s my ‘souper’ friend

Hi Jan, What a moving and touching write on friendship. It is a wonderful thing to have a "true" friend that is there for you no matter what. Friends can become like family. Jan you seem like an amazing person. You and Chris are lucky to have found each other. As far as your soup friend goes it just has to be me. All jokes aside I think it's Andrea( she's awesome by the way) but I know you're not going to tell. I think you penned yourself a winner .I wish you the best of luck in the contest:-) Alexis

I am truly blessed Agnes, we have three friends in particular who have been a tower of strength to us both during my bubbles cancer journey, the couple we have known for over twenty years and Chris for a shorter time:-) Hugs Jan xx

aww thanks Andrea, I wrote 6 lines (from the bottom up lol) then hit a brick wall but finally managed to get it finished. i hope Carolyn and jack like it, I've seen some awesome friendship poems and lovely tributes to soupers. It's fun trying to work out who they are written about:-) hugs jan xx
