Reaching Out and Forgiving

He wasn't the greatest father, I admit at last; his defiant ways weren't instilled in me as I grew up, I observed how he spoke and thought by garnering fright, " That would never be me! " I promised myself. Why couldn't he show love...was that wrong? Why did he hide his affection not to make me strong? As a lost ship on a stormy sea, I ventured on life's lonely journey: gathering courage and not trembling throughout darkness, being so confident that I would have overcome all obstacles! What did comfort me, if not hope and prayer that even now I seek? Why didn't despair overwhelm me when everything was bleak? Through space and distance, I'll reach out to hug him as I'll cry out aloud... to feel the depth of his unexpressed love hidden behind those stern eyes which kept me from giving it back by making me immensely grieve! Perhaps he will have another change to show it when Christ comes to teach him the righteous ways of the one who refused to believe... giving up man's worthless ego to be affectionate and give with true pride!
