RAW
Leaden weight upon my chest,
Emptiness left within my breast.
Memories of the friend I've lost,
For love so deep, this pain's the cost.
Stolen from the world you knew,
Of the good, you were one among few.
Your mouth was big, your heart was bigger,
You made me smile, you were a light-bringer.
Your smart-ass mouth, your tough outer shell,
Could not hide your softness from those who knew you well.
The loss of you, a shock to my core,
I only wish I had laughed with you more.
You were always there when I needed you,
Giving me sh*t, and getting me through.
We shared laughs and love, and even tears,
We knew eachother's deepest fears.
All the days that I have left,
Some part of me will always feel bereft.
I hope you now have the beauty and peace you deserve,
So, until we meet again.. save me a seat, put one on reserve.
*This poem is for my very close friend and former partner, Ryan Alan Windfield who was recently an unfortunate victim of homicidal violence. Rest peacefully, 'Mr. Princess'.. you will be forever missed.
