Rattlesnake
Rattlesnake
Stealthy reptile (scaly-skinned viper)
Flicks its forked tongue to smell direction
While slithering through the environment
In camouflaged snakeskin to avoid detection.
Snake eyes focus without tail rattling,
Coiling into a strike-kill position.
Slowly, its jaws separate, exposing fangs
That will deliver venom-filled neurotoxins.
The gloom and doom shadow looms,
Frightening and mesmerizing; the serpent launches.
The rodent stills, listening for hissing,
Delaying reaction, and is bitten.
