Rapestry For Aruna Shanbaug

Like a dove
I judiciously played the role
That humanity has called me to
The tranquil and peace is limitless

Every stride taken
A new day to entrench memories
In the hearts of the weak
Hoping my smile gives them strength

Just like another of those days
I went about my daily task
Until lightning struck like wildfire
My gentle strength weakened
Crushed like a molten magma

Over four decades later
In a vegetative state condemned
Because of a callous oppressor
Six feet under to be deposited

so-hanial-bharta-wa-mi-ki
Left to walk free
And pains etched in the hearts
Of all that loved and cared for me
