Rant and Raven

Pitch black raven in the sky

Hovering in the world so high

Can you tell me how you fly

Will you feast on me when I die

Dark smooth feathers

Dreadful beak

Majestic guardian on the deep

I love to listen to you speak

When I watch you eat decay

Makes me wonder what its like

To be a watcher of the night

I hear your voice echo through the night

Watch you take another flight

Puts a chill through my bones

When I hear the musical tones

How I wish we could trade places

My voice could be heard in the deepest spaces

Kind of morose but then I guess that is to be expected of a raven who watches by night. Well written and smooth on the tongue but sad in the heart.
