Rainbows Pour Crimson

No wonder the ocean roars
and space battles heart to heart
within a place distressed -
broken bodies clothed in denim
t-shirts splattered by screams
sprayed by bullets

Words are small comfort 'tween
two lands separated in form
but, surely, not in empathy..
we weep, shocked
that such tragedy should
cede life to the terror
of wanton craziness

Those trembling hands held high..
as young feet tried not to run
fear prompting
the urge to live, to learn
what youth fears when -
rainbows pour crimson
from palettes

Now anger reaps revenge
now trauma falls to its knees
and sermons will sound
louder than chimes..
never again..
never again..
til.. the next time

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Very difficult to curb crazy with a gun, knife, car, bomb, whatever. Maybe better to look at what was causing crazy to begin with-lack of moral compass, hope, faith, parenting obligations... Very topical write Emma, thanks for sharing.

Many thanks for your review, I'd tried hard to focus on what happens when craziness shows it worse face - whether rife or singular. Perhaps my initial words were too airy-fairy to be clear.. apologies for that. Not for one moment would i suggest that weapons could reinin insane behaviour.

What happened yesterday was another sad and horrific tragedy... 18 gun attack since the start of the year????? I do not know what can be done to change the situation, but to ban guns will be very difficult.. It is people who kill using guns, maybe stricter rules, maybe stronger checks on individuals.. How sad the school had been warned about this guy and he was attending mental health clinic, but had not been for a while.. plenty of warning signs there.. :(

As a Brit, not able to comment about your laws, would be wrong of me. I'm still shocked to tears as to what happened, so many of us over here talking about the terrible event and we have had similar over here. There are so many doubts, instant reactions, ciriticisms, etc. because there always has to be someone or an organisation or whatever to blame. Hope my words are thought appropriate. Believe me, prayers are being said, candles lit. Thank you for caring, for your dear heart.
