Notes About The Poem

Entry for Let's Write A Tercet Poetry Contest: Sponsored by: Joanna Daniel   Date wrote 11th Junly 26

Rain

A voiceless sigh of longing forsook her lips
as she watched the raindrops strike the windowpane
following the downward journey of the drips.

Winter’s white carapace of snow now long lost
to fresh springtimes youthful bluster, and the rain;
both seasons, resemblant to old lovers crossed.

The summer sunshine seems yet so far away,
chance again for love to play its soft refrain;
now, she sits, last year's long-faded, aged bouquet.

A gentle breath on glass, finger tracing heart;
a sobbing, heaving breast still so full of pain
as rain slow erased her fragile work of art.

This beautiful piece really raised the bar Terry. Every line conjures a new image so clearly, I felt I was really standing in front of that misted window. My wish is to elevate my writing to this level of excellence some day. Best wishes from Wen.

Thank you so much Andrea, not been very active of late, some bad news on the health front, but getting back into writing, and reading slowly
