Rain

At the darkest hour, in the dead of night, the thunder rumbles around us as electric sparks shoot from the sky. The rain is falling outside but I'm drowning inside. It's raining harder than I've ever felt. The tears fall from my eyes and all I feel is pain and heartache. I look to the sky and wonder if this storm will ever end. And then you pull me close and hold me tight. In the safety of your arms I bury my face in your chest. All I can hear is the beating of your heart. Even with chaos in the sky at that moment it was you and I. Suddenly a calmness takes over and the anger, the hurt, and all the sadness is gone. In that moment you were my calm in the chaos of the storm.
