Railway Life
Heat slows on in summer,
Trains are rolling slow
Cold slows on in winter,
When it hits twenty five below.
Other crews working in the yard
Makes getting out extremely hard.
Trainmaster yelling, wondering when we will leave,
I just go forward and backwards,
He best be asking Steve….
Waiting for a clearance, RTC is slow,
Trainmaster still yelling, wanting us to go.
Finally we got a clearance, with a foreman and two trains,
So here we are just sitting, waiting yet again.
Foreman finally clears us I feel the rail beneath our wheels,
Trainmaster starts calling us trying to make deals,
Cause now we won't make it in on 12,
And he's plumb out of crews,
But when he's making deals with us,
He's usually giving us the screws.
The trip is going well, we didn't take his deal
Cause on top of all the extra pay,
We wanted us a meal.
He wasn't giving in on that one so the train will have to sit,
The northern superintendent, is gonna have a fit.
Tying the train down in the siding,
Waiting on a cab,
Traimaster calls us on the radio, he really likes to gab.
Trainmaster yelling on the radio now,
He wants a full report,
On every single thing we did
To make our time run short.
He sure likes his screaming,
He's gonna have a heart attack
And if it doesn't kill him,
He'll yell at us bout that!
It's sure nice when we can just do our jobs
From one end to the other,
and not be getting scolded
Like a child from his mother….
