Quiet Time

It's cool out this morn, 'pon the porch sitting
As the gentle wind stirs new music is born
All creatures that listen are benefitting
It's cool out this morn

Like cool fall minus the falling acorns
Crows caw, roosters crow, other sounds flitting
The Dove is quiet, maybe he's lovelorn

Out on the porch clouds their rain emitting
Now there's Dove's voice and reply reborn
Time alone today I'm not omitting
It's cool out this morn

I love the country and woodland inspirations you seem to find; I've noticed it's a common theme in many of your pieces. I usually don't have such a great reverence for nature type poems, but you capture the feel so wonderfully. I live in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, and you make me feel like I am out on my front porch, out here in the country. Another nice read :)

Is it a swing or a chair. I would prefer to be swinging on that porch of yours!

you get a lot of poetry on this porch swing of yours. You could do a book and call it, "poetry from my porch!" And it would be a GREAT book.
