Quiet City

In the deepest part of night, streets now deserted
The calm of the city, it beckons to me
The allure of the lights, in the buildings afar
Appear, as if art, upon fine tapestry
I wander the streets with my eyes all aglow
Awaiting just presence, to share in this site
But, alas, streets abandoned. No one else wandering
So I walk alone, this fine August night.

Anyone! Anyone! Come share in these visions!
The night cannot only belong to just one.
Someone! Someone! Seek out my presence.
Walk with me until the rise of the sun.
The dimming city lights, like eyes in the distance
Stare back, yet don’t judge, as I walk alone.
Yet, I know the truth, the reason for wandering
And that is my reason that I must go on.
