Quick Sand

Crinkle up the paper
tear another sheet
but here, still sitting next to you
is making me feel weak.

Every time you mess it up
I rip another cover
Replace it with an Oscar smile!
So no one comes and hovers.

I stitch, sew, and duct tape
plaster bruises if I must
So everyone around us
could think we're a loving fuss

And loving is not quite the word
more like clinging to his skin
I'm awkward and low confident
There's no one else but him.

But then again
what could I say?
He doesn't love me back
There is another girl he wishes, but she doesn't want a quack.

So here we are
the both of us
Holding each others hand
Hoping one of us would let go, and not tug us in the sand.
