Questions? Question!!!??????

Why are today's teachers put off by questions?
It is the smart person's way to understand
what they have been taught,
because making mistakes will only make the
same teachers wrought,
Impatient teachers will find all the questions annoying,
rendering the kids stupid,
worth ignoring,
Asking questions are the only way to learn,
Critics have issues and they should be the
ones spurned,
Leaders are glad to help and teach again and again,
helping those who seek knowledge is the only way
to create zen.

When I was teaching, I was delighted when students asked questions. It showed they were interested. And we can certainly learn a lot by asking for more information. I don't understand teachers who are reluctant to answer questions (unless they don't know the answers and feel embarrassed). Perhaps this poem defines one of the reasons our education system is not as successful as those in other countries. Very thought-provoking poem, Margaret. Love, Carolyn
