Questionnaire

Got a jury questionnaire –
They really have some nerve!
I’ve paid my dues; I’m not so young
And I don’t wanna serve!

There must be people willing
Or who haven’t once been called.
Perhaps it’s time the system
Was completely overhauled.

Let all of us who’ve served before
Be evermore exempt,
Or else they’ll have to deal with
Someone totally verklempt!*

*flustered, nervous, overwhelmed (Yiddish)

They waited til I was old and no longer had the urge to sit for hours with 11 others listing to a crime's chain of events. My sweet MD sent a letter stating that my wheelchair and oxygen tank were not conducive with jury duty, and they exempted me for all time. Ilene I loved your rhyme.

Hmmm...interesting, Ilene. I've always wanted to be summoned, but never was. I consider jury duty as much a privilege as voting.
