Quest To Become Great
I work hard to become great
Even with impediments
I tried not to succumb to peer pressure
Many things worked against this hidden quest
One is the death of my dad in my prime
I have sleepless nights thinking
Thinking of how to proceed
How to survive in a harsh society
That is full of selfishness, greed and pain
I wiggled my way through school the hard way
Doing odd jobs to survive
And put food on the table
Vowed to be rich so as to help others
It has been difficult to realize this
Hard work is not enough to fulfill dreams
I’m blessed with many talents
But I still struggle to stand
I pray on my knees to the one above
to grant my request for the world to see
Conflicting thoughts in mind; will I succeed?
But I’ve resolved to make it
The straight way not the bent way .
