The first American(us) poet Anne Bradstreet used this form.It is flexible and is suitable as a sequence of many popular forms.I have posted quaternion them as haiku, fibonacci to name but two
WINTER in anger- whips up the waves, pounds the shingle shore SPRING in action- brings to life and feathers its nest SUMMER so lazy- rests the soul and flowers the land AUTUMN so mellow- scents and sounds in the harvest home. Quaternion maybe in any form ,this one about the Four seasons is in the lanterne form.
