Quarter Moon
Quarter moon, hung low in the velvet sky
Bring a smile to a heart which dares to try
I hear you call to distant stars, ‘come out and play’
As warm summer nights crown the lazy days
Sweet contentment and peace saturates my soul
Shooting stars sail night skies, fall where, I do not know
Absorbing the grand magic, I lay in repose
Recalling childhood dreams now deposed
While I'm basking in splendor and drift into slumber upon this chaise
May I awake at day's break and still feel as much cheer
