Putting On a Show For Puss
Little bird you sound so sweet
Intriguing kitty at my feet
In treetop dawn you soar so high
Tracing bright patterns in the sky
The cat is wary of your flight
Within the ebbing of the night
He jumps the window sill and gawks
At you amongst the wrens and hawks
Now pouncing in the air he glides
Across the panes of glass he slides
But feathered one so sleek and strong
You laugh as you break into song
Your wings spread wide as you ascend
To skies unknown and in the end
Take flight for which you're well designed
And kitty jumps down now resigned
To watching you another day
It's time for his nap anyway
