Put Their Life On the Line

We lost many soldiers
War after war
Many families, too
Have had their hearts torn
Mangled bodies laying
All over the field there
Some knelt beside them
Could see the pain show there
So many tears had been shed
For a friend or a loved one
Felt guilty, for they weren't protected by someone
When soldiers came home
No longer talked about the war
What went on was nothing but horror
So many today
Still are forgotten
To me, I feel that is just
Down right rotten
Wars dragged on forever
Some still left unfound
There are those still in prison
Tied up and bound
They put their life
On the line, for you and me
It took bravery to fight
Yet, people walk past them today, you see
Not even thanking them for what they did just isn't right
