Put the Cat Out
Tiptoed quietly into the house
Took off my shoes
If the wife wakes up
I'll be singing the blues
She said the last time
I decided to roam
"Just keep on going"
"Don't bother coming home!"
It's inky dark all thru the house
Having to feel where I am at
Half way to the safety of my bed
Wondering where is that fat cat
Almost made it to my room
Suddenly I hear a great wail
Can't believe my bad luck
Stepped right on cat's tail
Then I hear the wife call
"What the heck is going on now?"
The only thing I can think to say
Is one long loud "MEEOOW!"
Wife sleepily says, "Honey put the cat out"
"Yes Dear" and grab my shoes from the floor
As my head sinks into my pillow
The wife begins to snore
