Notes About The Poem

Purity of Mind

(“Mind’s Eye”, 2017, original encaustic)

Each night we sleep and dream
Emptying and integrating
All we’ve gathered in the day
And then we wake and start another
Fresh and clean, if somewhat groggy
And proceed to fill our minds up
Again but with such poor discrimination
Air and thought waves oh so crowded
Full of all the chit and chatter
Of other minds reaching and reacting
To fill their daylight hours
With just more content for the night
