Proud Veteran
I step in the place of boots,
that marched there, along before me.
Who then set the standard of excellence,
while fighting for those, who weren't free.
From their ordeals, grew a sacrifice,
a constant struggle, and a constant pain.
Having to succumb to the dangers involve,
realizing there was much more for them, to then gain.
A height of which they couldn't before climb,
and a profile of being amongst the few.
An experience no one can truly take back,
and a wisdom of what one, is to then do.
A sense of pride, for fighting for a people.
For a freedom they crucially need to receive.
A people rule by a one sided government,
who were made to suffer and not fully achieve.
The baton has now since been passed,
I to go, and do the very same.
Always proud to be a celebrated part,
of those, of whom, once have became.
