Protection

You offered me protection
Protection from the past
Protection I longed for
Protection that could never last

You offered me love 
Love so real
Love so open
Love to help me heal

You offered me trust
Trust I never let in
Trust so free
Trust from a true best friend

You brought me insecurity
You abandoned my love
You lost my trust
You just flew away like a pretty white dove

I will now protect my heart
I hope to find love someday
I will never trust again
I think my someday has turned to gray
