Protecting My Friend Till the End

Calls in middle of the night
Hearing something isn't right
Your voice crackling with fear
Pleading for me to be there
I hang up and get dressed
Scaring me with your distress
I knock, it is 3 AM
You hurry and let me in
Grabbing me so tight and fearful
Crying with eyes big and tearful
I softly ask what its about
Your abusive husband out
Of prison and threatened to
Come and take revenge on you
The police are on the case
But I see a frightful trace
Of past memories that had
You scarred and beaten so bad
I stay there and calm you down
If he tries to come around
I'll be here until the end
Believe me when I say my friend
He'll get the shock of his life
From a wild woman with a knife
Protecting you with full force
I will take the knife and toss
It right into his awful chest
Claiming it was self defense
