Protected Silence

We all want our problems solved, but we don't want anyone in our business.
We want the whole world to know, but we don't want to tell you a thing.
For surely as we open the door, the wind will come and blow away our dreams.

So what's the answer?
Can we break through without a guiding hand?
Or do we just keep looking for someone who will understand?
My future lies in a vault of solitude.
If I give you the key and let you see the other side of me.
Where then will the two of us be?

Have your dreams come true?
Have you left yesterday behind for someone new?
Or are you one of us who still remain blue?
Don't you want to shout and tell the world what you think it's all about?
Shhh!
Don't let em' know your secret.
Keep away the white coat's who come knocking with their net.

Can you remember days of innocence when love was yet to come?
Oh sweet romantic dreams of yet to come.
Well time is spent, tables turn and bridges burn. Leaving only the lessons to learn.
God let our young hearts sing with happiness and new found spring.

It's sad, "my future lies in a vault of solitude" but I sure love that line!! As Anne Lise said, it's a touching and deep poem. And I thank you for reading so many of mine today. it's always cool to see the rhymes you come up with. Luv, Andrea

Some doors are harder to close than others. Perhaps it's more self-preservation from rejection that keeps myself from allowing opening up to something new...or it may be the fact that no one's knocking lol Of course I can't speak for others. Lots of deep thoughts in this poem, well structured with a strong ending. I by no means think romance ends after 50....God willing it will happen to me once more in my lifetime. Finding peace within myself these days...and that is a feat !! Wish you Joy
