Prophesy?
Prophecy?
The Jewish Scriptures make it clear
About what will occur when the Messiah is here.
There will be on the throne, a KIng,
And to the world, peace he will bring.
Swords to plowshares, as the saying goes,
Israel will not have any of its foes.
Zechariah says, peace to every nation
No wars anywhere, they come to cessation.
Jeremiah agrees, the messiah will reign.
He’ll be the king, without a bane.
A king on the throne and priest at the alter
Animal sacrifices will never falter.
The priests will still offer sacrifice,
Of animals killed to pay the price.
All the nations will flock to the Jews
And seek information and the clues
About how to know the “real” Good News
But reading this, Christians won’t change their views
But what of Christians’ major claim
Of the prophecies of Jesus’ fame?
In Isaiah we find a famous one,
A virgin shall conceive a son.
The Hebrew says a different thing.
She’s not a virgin and already with offspring.
But the prophecy is not about the child.
It’s about the end of a war reconciled.
Not everything written is about things to come.
Words on a page just do not succumb.
Regardless of what believers desire,
The Bible is not about what they conspire.
