Promises

How do I start this off?
We make promises all the time
Sometimes it’s a little hard off
That’s why I make all these rhymes

We look each other in the eyes
We make our promises
And then we cry

How do we make so many 
But keep so few
All that I have is the thought of you

Don’t raise that flag of white
We’re making all these promises,
So now we mustn’t fight

So keep me from the rain
I don’t want to hear that thunder
Save me from the pain
Let’s make another
