6/27/2026 for Broken Promises Poetry Contest sponsored by Silent One
Promises are dubious transactions made by lovers in their interactions, often given by one without a thought for affections of the moment, they have sought. The naive, so often they believe, words not meant really to deceive, but spoken, in sincerest fashion, in a moment of romantic passion. Shakespeare said it and I agree, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be". The same might be said of promises - we should all be doubting Thomases.
