Product of a Wandering Mind

One wish filled afternoon I fashioned a knife out of a spoon The following banal morning I held it up as I was adorning its hand carved ivory handle to the light of a flickering candle It appeared to dance and move on its own and then it became a rotary telephone I dialed a "1" and then an area code and it turned into a great horned toad It shot out its tongue and caught a fly before letting out a muted cry Then it sprouted feathers and grew wings so I opened the window for this thing It said to me "Galatians chapter 5 will help keep you alive" I said "Thank you Lord for all your creatures" and I noticed one odd feature The flying frog turned back into a utensil except this time it was a pencil So I wrote God a thank you note and put it in the pocket of my coat I pulled it out the next day and all of the words were hard to say So I wrote this poem to help me remember what it was like on a Friday in September
