Prison Nights

I guess my future is not divine.

I guess this place is just fine.

For me to stay awake like a traveling plane.

That will touch down eventually, and the doors will open with pain.

I remember that day in the waiting room.

When I realized I wouldn’t go home to be consumed-

By the people who see me as rotten.

If I sleep, I will be forgotten!

When I woke up in the prison-

I realized I wanted to go to sleep again.

But my cravings keep me awake.

When I close my eyes I feel the shakes.

I guess this is what it is to be banished.

And for my belongings to vanish.
