Pride

If pride comes before destruction
Look what humility can do
If you ask for help when you need it the most
How people will look at you!

My husband and I have recently encountered
A situation in which we needed money
We asked our church and they gave it to us
But it sure makes me feel all funny

I decided last night, I’ll never ask for help
Never ask for help again
Humility makes you into a looser
But pride makes you feel like you win

Maybe I’m wrong and should be more humble
Maybe I should swallow my pride
But it sure hurts to ask for help
I would have rather died.

Humility came before destruction
The destruction of my ego
It is hard to admit my faults and needs
Why? I’ll never know.
