Pretty Poetry
I don’t write pretty poetry.
Life’s just not like that.
Sometimes it’s high,
Sometimes it’s flat.
Love doesn’t run smoothly
For we are human and frail
And sometimes we succeed
Most of the time we fail.
We often hurt others
Though not meaning to
It’s just one of those things
We unthinkingly do.
We’d like maybe to say sorry
But we’re hurting inside
And admitting being wrong
Clashes with feelings of pride.
So, I try to be considerate
Try not to insult or hurt,
To stay in the background,
Try not to self assert
Try to be considerate
In what I do and say
Try to gain the most
From every single day.
So,I don’t write pretty poetry,
Feet firmly on the ground
I try to reflect daily life
As it happens all around,
That doesn’t need pretty poetry.
